Clos Canarelli Vineyard in Figari
An Exceptional Vineyard in Southern Corsica
Located in Figari, at the foot of the Omu di Cagna, the Clos Canarelli vineyard is rooted in one of France's southernmost wine-growing regions. Nestled between Bonifacio, Porto-Vecchio, the Alta Rocca mountains, and the rocky landscapes of the far south, the estate enjoys a unique environment shaped by the wind, the sun, and the proximity of the sea.
This location gives rise to powerful, distinguished Corsican wines of great finesse. The wide temperature swings, consistent winds, and diverse soils help preserve freshness, tension, and elegance, even in a bright and demanding Mediterranean climate.
Organic and biodynamic viticulture
From planting to harvest, Clos Canarelli's work is grounded in a deep respect for the land and the vines. The soils are cultivated using traditional methods, without herbicides, synthetic pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. Vineyard work and the harvest are carried out by hand to maintain a direct connection with the fruit.
Certified organic since 2002 and managed biodynamically since 2006, the estate seeks above all to reveal the true expression of its terroirs. This rigorous approach gives Clos Canarelli's wines a unique identity—precise, vibrant, and deeply rooted in Southern Corsica.
Corsican grape varieties and ampelographic heritage
Clos Canarelli boasts a remarkable ampelographic heritage. Alongside traditional Corsican grape varieties such as Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu, and Vermentinu are lesser-known varieties such as Minustellu, Carcaghjolu Neru, Biancu Gentile, and Genovese.
The reintroduction of these endemic grape varieties contributes to the estate's reputation and helps preserve the island's precious viticultural heritage. This diversity allows the estate to produce white, red, and rosé wines with great character, combining freshness, minerality, floral notes, and aromatic finesse.
The Winery and Wines of Clos Canarelli
Clos Canarelli's winemaking process is designed to be gentle, natural, and respectful of the raw materials. The estate produces about fifteen cuvées, including iconic white, rosé, and red wines, as well as more exclusive single-vineyard cuvées.
Clos Canarelli Blanc, Clos Canarelli Rosé, Clos Canarelli Rouge, Tarra di Sognu Blanc, Tarra di Sognu Rouge, and Tarra d'Orasi each offer a distinct interpretation of the vineyard. The wines prioritize precision, freshness, depth, and elegance over showiness.
From Figari to Bonifacio: granite, limestone, and terroir-driven wines
Clos Canarelli draws its character from several complementary terroirs, ranging from granite and clay-limestone soils to landscapes near Bonifacio. This geological diversity lends depth, tension, and complexity to the estate's wines.
From the granite of Figari to the limestone soils of Tarra di Sognu, each plot reveals a different nuance of southern Corsica. Some wines are crafted from precise blends, others from single-vineyard selections—always with the aim of letting the soil speak above all else.
Staying in the heart of the winery

Beyond the vineyards and wines, the Tarra di Sognu estate features several villas with private pools, nestled in a pristine setting among vineyards, olive trees, maquis, and granite rocks.
These accommodations offer a unique experience: staying in the heart of the Clos Canarelli estate, in the tranquility of southern Corsica.
Just a few minutes from Figari, Bonifacio, Pianottoli-Caldarello, and the wild beaches of the south, the estate's villas offer a different way to discover the vineyards, combining the Corsican art of living, open landscapes, and close proximity to the terroirs that give rise to the wines of Clos Canarelli.
