Brasserie Pietra in Furiani - A leading name in Corsican craft beer
Why La Pietra Has Become a Staple of Corsican Beer
In 1992, a young couple—Dominique and Armelle Sialelli—decided to combine their love for Corsica with the creation of a craft Corsican beer, the first of its kind ever produced on the island.
La Pietra is the result of this project, which came to fruition in 1996. Its name refers to the village of Pietraserena, where Dominique is from. The brewery is located in Furiani near the stadium, where it now produces one of the island's best-known Corsican beers.
The Corsican chestnut beer that made Pietra famous
When the first Pietra was launched in 1996, its uniqueness lay in the use of Corsican chestnut flour, an iconic product of the island. Unlike many flavored beers, the chestnut is not used merely as a flavoring but as a genuine raw ingredient integrated into the brewing process. It contributes to the beer's structure, its amber color, its head, and its flavor profile.
This original recipe, combined with high-quality spring water and expert craftsmanship, has allowed Pietra to stand out in the brewing world. Having become a benchmark for Corsican chestnut beer, Pietra is now distributed far beyond the island and exported internationally.
Spring water at the heart of the brewing process
The family-owned business is located above the Acqua Bianca spring in Furiani, allowing it to benefit from the quality of its water—a fundamental criterion for brewing a good beer.
100% Artisanal Brewery
At Pietra, the team consists of professional master brewers who oversee every stage of production. The malt is converted into wort through the saccharification process before being fermented using yeasts selected by the brewery. Carried out on-site in its own yeast room, this essential step ensures consistent quality and adherence to the traditional recipe.
In 2026, Pietra celebrates its 30th anniversary

In June 2026, the Pietra brewery celebrated its 30th anniversary, an opportunity to honor its history, its Corsican roots, and its evolution through a collector's edition paying tribute to the island's landscapes, wildlife, and iconic symbols.
Its graphic design features the head of Maure, the osprey, the mouflon, the GR20 trail, the sea, the mountains, and the Corsican sun.
At the center of this design is the chestnut tree, a powerful symbol of the island's identity and a nod to Pietra's original recipe, crafted from a blend of malts and Corsican chestnut flour used as a key ingredient during the brewing process. Produced in a limited edition, this anniversary can celebrates three decades of innovation while paying homage to the roots that made Corsica's most famous beer a success.
