A wild beach on Cap Corse

Marine d'Albo Beach in Ogliastro, on 16/06/2016

Albo beach is a small pebble beach that forms an arc about 380 meters long and 100 meters wide. It is bordered to the north by the mouth of the Guadu Grande river and to the south by the Genoese Tower of Albo, which is open to the public with an exhibition in summer.

Positioned on a through road away from the main tourist areas, the beach remains relatively uncrowded, even at the height of the season.

Where is Albo beach located?

Albo beach is located on the west coast of Cap Corse, about 30 minutes' drive from Saint-Florent on the D80. This hamlet in the commune of Ogliastro, a Cap Corse village of around a hundred inhabitants, lies between Canari to the north and Nonza to the south.

Access to Albo beach and parking

From Nonza, it's a 10-minute drive (15 minutes from Canari) to the hairpin bend that leads down to the marine d'Albo. Access to the hamlet is via a narrow one-way road.

Turn right at the small Saint-Roch chapel to reach the beach. Parking is easy: a large open space offers parking in the immediate vicinity, with an area often used by motorhomes near the river.

Make sure you don't forget anything in your car, as you'll have to walk more than a hundred meters from the parking lot to the shore on a vast strip of pebbles and sand.

What you need to know before swimming

Swimming is permitted but not supervised. The beach is made up of black pebbles, and is characterized by a rapidly increasing depth: several meters are reached after the first few meters in the water.

No shady areas

The beach is totally exposed to the sun. There is no vegetation around the beach and no facilities for sheltering from UV rays. We advise you to bring an umbrella, especially in summer, and to protect children and adults alike.
